Firmly secure your workpiece with clamps or a vice if it is not structural.
Brace the drill from behind to avoid tweaking your wrist with any kickback.
Apply light pressure and high speed to start the hole.
After the bit has plunged into the work material, more pressure may be applied.
These tools should only be used for perpendicular holes, not angled entry.
