Prepare Before Use

  • Wear eye protection and ear protection.

  • Secure or remove all loose hanging clothing.

  • Do not use with fluorescent or flickering light, as spinning blades may appear still.

  • Lower the blade until only 1 full tooth extends above the material you will be cutting.

  • Secure the fence, making certain that your positioning is accurate with a measuring tool. Measure both ends of the fence, to guarantee the fence is secured parallel to the blade.

  • Position your push stick beside the fence so it can be reached easily when needed

  • Place a roller stand beyond the table saw if your material is oversized.

Tool Techniques

  • Allow the blade to reach full speed before cutting

  • Press workpiece firmly against the fence and brace from behind as you push toward the blade.

  • Maintain this control of the workpiece to avoid uplift or kickback that could send the material flying at you or someone else.

  • As the cut nears completion, before your hand approaches the blade, hold the material firm to the table surface with one hand while you position your push stick behind the workpiece to finish the cut.

  • Using the push stick, push the workpiece completely past the spinning blade before releasing.

  • Turn off the blade and allow it to stop completely before placing hands near the blade to retrieve your material.

  • Remove any small debris before making additional cuts.
